What is Grace Notes Music Therapy?

Sing for Joy. Grow in Life. Bloom with Grace.

Grace notes are small ornamental notes that come before the main note. They are embellishments, tiny details, that can add to a piece of music. At Grace Notes, we believe everyone is the main note, the statement. The "grace notes" of your life could be your friends & family; favorite song, food, or color; the instruments you play or the therapies you're in. The grace notes are the little things in life that add up to make you, you. At Grace Notes, we'd love to be a part of your embellishments and help you grow into a beautiful symphony.

Grace Notes also believes in the grace and love of Jesus. Without His never-ending, pursuant love & grace, Grace Notes would not have been founded. While we do have Christian beliefs and foundations, everyone (any race, gender, religion), is welcome at Grace Notes. You may come as you are without fear of judgement. Grace Notes strives to be a safe place for everyone.

What is Music Therapy?

What is Music Therapy?

Music Therapy is the clinical & evidence-based use of music, music interventions, & music instruments, by a certified professional, to help individuals reach therapeutic goals. Goals can include: communication skills, academic/cognitive skills, emotional/behavioral skills, social skills, motor skills, music skills. An example would be using adaptive piano lessons to help someone gain more mobility & dexterity in their fingers.

Who can benefit from music therapy?

Almost anyone can benefit from music therapy. We can work with any age, diagnosis, and population. You don't have to know how to play a music instrument or how to read music to benefit from music therapy. I have personally worked with early intervention ages 0-3; kids, young adults, & adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities; kids & young adults with autism; older adults in assisted living/memory care; and many more!

Why music therapy?

I truly believe in the power of music. I have seen so many amazing accomplishments during my undergrad & internship. What's special about music therapy, to me, is that everyone loves music. Everyone can be connected or reached by music. And because we use music as the delivery system, it can help create a connection or reach a goal that may have seemed impossible.
